Darkkeep

I just re-read them, starting a song of fire and ice for third time now !!

I've been trying to avoid reading the Malazan books because I hate it when I have to wait years for the next release, but I bought these the other day. At least Erikson has been churning out a new installment roughly once a year, so at this rate the series will be complete by 2011. Unless he does a George Martin and slows his progress towards the end. Will try to read at most one book every six months so everything is still fresh enough in my mind - I don't want to get forget all the characters and subplots that went before, like what happened in the Wheel of Time. Even with the glossary, I have no idea who is who at this stage. I am worried that the same thing will happen in the Song of Ice and Fire when GRRM finally finishes A Dance with Dragons

Sounds good. With HBO doing it, it might be good. I'm quite the fan of a few of their series namely Rome and Deadwood, while the misses is totally addicted to The Wire.

not sure if you heard but apparently HBO have bought the rights and intend to devote a season to each book!

I bought the G R R Martin series on your recommendations "a song of ice and fire" and was really really was blown away, great stuff, great characters and full of twists, intrigue and bloody murders, I really felt for the characters, even for some of the Lannisters ! Think i might start in on them again and really savour them!

the name steve erikson rings a bell, but ive not read any of the above.
any other books he wrote?
i'll keep an eye out for em tho.


ive definately read one of George R R martin's book. dunno which, i'll check my library tonight.

atm im rereading all my gemmell books. ahh great stuff. written back in the days when a good book was a good book, not an ok series.

Yeah they're pretty good books, and only four more to go after the bonehunters so at least there's an end in sight unlike say the wheel of shite.

There's also two other books set in the same world, Blood Follows andThe Healthy Dead. I'm planning on heading down town today myself and see if I can find them anywhere.

On a side note another series you could look at is the Game of thrones by George R.R. Martin, which is pretty good. Its also a long series, what ever happened to trilogies ?

No news is as they say good news. Since there's been no developments gamewise or serverwise that have really interested me I though I'd suggest a series of books you should give a read of if you're lost for something to do.

Last week saw the paper release of the bonehunters, the sixth book in a ten part series by author Steven Erikson. Its the first series of fantasy books which have kept my interest for quite sometime, no more swords of shazbard please. And while 10 books is a respectable number, the action has been solid throughout unlike the mired Wheel of Time (if you haven't started this mess, spare yourself the pain don't).
