Since the general consensus seemed to be that most people would be on for another game in light of the non-running of the colonization one, I'm suggesting we start one after christmas in time for the new year.

At the moment we've a choice of game, listed below as I see it.
  • phpDiplomacy, browser-based.
The last few where a good laugh, though the time issues where a pain :/
  • NetRisk, browser-based.
I've tried this at home and it seems to run ok, its round robin like the civ games though you can set a time limit on the turns. I've many happy memories of playing this in a pub in monaghan :)
  • Civ 4
Then there's always good old civ.
I'm happy to do any of them. Or if anyone knows any others stick them down.
I had a look for free pbem games, but they're a bit thin on the ground.
I've stuck a post on the strategy forum on boards.ie so we might get some suggestions there.

It'd be nice to try something new. risk could be good, I always loved playing it as a kid, especially the tantrums when the plucky enemy would decimate my vast and heretofore unstoppable armageddon machine with a series of jammy double 6's

Ok,

I've installed netrisk for us, so all we need are a few players. Its got a maximum number of 8, though we can easily play with fewer.
The game can have a timelimit placed on turns, I'm thinking a day which should keep things moving nicely. though maybe 36 hours might be fairer.

Once we've got anyone from here interested in playing a spot I'll open it to the boardies. We can wait until the 2nd to start, since ppl will be busy over the holiday etc.

Stick your name down if you're interested.
