Another day and another MMORPG beta for all of you to apply for :)
Say hello to the Age of Mourning
Heres the blurb from their site so you can see if it tickles your fancy.
Age of Mourningâ„¢ is a persistent online world project set in turbulent medieval times focusing on player vs player strife and territorial conquest with many unique ideas and features. Age of Mourningâ„¢ plunges players into a beautifully detailed online world to explore, which includes underground caverns, woodlands, mountain ranges, forests, ice lands, wastelands, cities and towns.
Age of Mourningâ„¢ takes a different approach than previous MMORPG's have taken in regards to character progression and character development within a game world. Instead of focusing on a single static character, players will have a bloodline or lineage that will evolve as time goes on. Age of Mourningâ„¢ will give the player the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and create a unique name for himself within the world. Age of Mourningâ„¢ will also be highly geared towards roleplayers with storyline being created by a professional fantasy writer which will be closely associated with gameplay.
In most online RPG's there are only temporary deaths; however, this is another area where Age of Mourningâ„¢ breaks away from the rest. In Age of Mourningâ„¢, a player can permanently die. Death is one of the key ingredients of the bloodline system because every character will have a limited lifespan but also have an ongoing lineage or bloodline with many benefits associated with a long and properous one. Age of Mourningâ„¢ is about your deeds and continued struggle to carve out your name within the world. Age of Mourningâ„¢ is about your bloodline.
Most MMORPG's claim to be realistic online worlds when in reality they are nothing more than static level treadmills that eventually only cater to the high end player base. Once you have "leveled up" and experienced all the low end content; there is really no purpose for it any longer and it rarely if ever gets any attention so it remains a useless forgotten experience when it could be much more.
In Age of Mourning our world is truly dynamic and always changing. Because of our bloodline system, players have the ability to experience not only new high end content but also new low end content because of the endless life cycle of being reborn and dying while continuing their bloodline or lineage. This endless cycle allows us to concentrate on both the low end and high end experience and no longer makes the low end gaming experience useless over time.
No longer is there a high end cap. Players will experience all the game has to offer continuously in a changing , endless , real world gaming cycle.
They've the beta page up and running.
At the price I'd say you cann't go wrong
