Quake IV

Last week saw the release of Quake IV and as such we've put a server up running on games4 in place of the Day of Defeat server which wasn't getting used.
As seems to be the case with games these days (and both Quake II and Quake III where the same) it still needs a little bit of work which will be hopefully be rounded up in a upcoming patch. But it is by no means the mess that the battlefield games have been (and Battlefield II continues to be), more a case of needing a bit of spit and polish.

Due to a limitation in the ingame browser (only 1000 servers are returned) you will need to use an external browser, I've listed a few below. A well spec'ed machine is also required to run it, but thats always been the case with Quake games. But with the detail right down I've been running on an oldish AMD and 9600 (doesn't even meet the requirements :) ) and is still quite playable, so most people should be ok.

Only worring thing for me is that the player numbers here in the emerald isle seem a bit on the low side, but hopefully that'll pick up. The game is closer to Quake II than Quake III which personally I feel is only a good thing. And it has a proper hyperblaster and rail, woot I'm a happy man.
