Dear Diary
Is there anybody out there?
Having explored all points of the compass and found nothing but over sized novelty puddles and soaring mountain peaks amidst thick coniferous undergrowth. We have reached the chilling conclusion that we are alone in the universe, and that while "pine fresh fragrance" is nice for a while, we yearn for change, maybe something fruity.
Who knows what lies over that next peak though, possibly some more peaks and maybe a hill.

Re: Comrade's Diary
perhaps we have all decided to ignore and hide from you?
perhaps there is a suprise party waiting for you in the middle ?
i am indeed on the map, and me and few of the other civs just be chillin, drinking a bud...

Dear Diary,
Contact! An explorer, liveried in purple, appeared on the border of our domain today. Though he was clearly tired and footsore from the journey, he immediately set to arguing with our newly appointed ambassador in a strange and utterly unintelligible language.
It was fortuitous that one of our learned scholars recognized the tongue as an archaic form of legalese, purged from our empire shortly after the discovery of a code of laws which had resulted in a bitter civil war between rival factions, the Barristeria and Solicitons.
A common tongue established, we hope peaceful coexistence will replace the need for a violent non-holy war with the religious unheathens.

2nd of May 470 AD,
Dear Diary,
We've spotted many black-clothed wild men moving in the wilderness. We dispatched a junior clerk (2nd class) to investigate but the wild men cleaved him apart with axes and ate him. His mother has been on to me and she's very upset altogether. We wonder if these are the mysterious Brokers we've heard about.

This vulgar Iconoclasm is an offence to all Byzantine subjects.
Change your ways or we will set Augustine of Hippo on you.
