Ancient start proved a bit tedious in the current Civ 5 game.

If you have a classical start you get 1 settler, 1 worker and 2 warriors.
Medieval start and you get 2 settler, a worker and 3 warriors.

I'd say go for Medieval, so the game gets up and running quicker
